The types and services related to the Cloud

The terms of the Cloud

To clarify and to help even the less experienced to better understand the world of the Cloud, we have decided to introduce some simple definitions.
In this blog we are going to insert the types and services related to the Cloud world, obviously we will mention only a few.
In the next blogs on the topic “The terms of the Cloud” we will also see the Cloud providers and other issues related to the Cloud.

The types

Let's start with the types of Cloud. There are many, but we could introduce the most common:

  • IAAS when all the infrastructure is in the Cloud. The biggest advantage is the abolition of the costs of physical hardware in the company.
  • Hybrid Cloud it is when the use of Cloud services extends only to some dedicated servers for certain activities, other physical servers remain in the company.
  • The Multicloud by which we mean the adoption of multiple Cloud environments that can be both public and private. The advantage is a mix of costs, compared to a differentiation of the service.
  • SAAS that is when software and applications are in the Cloud, for example e-mail. It is the smallest unit of the Cloud types, so only some services are on the cloud.
This solution can be a first step towards cloud-based business transformation.
  • PAAS means the passage to the Cloud of a platform, for example for the development and distribution of Web App.
This solution achieves the need to have a platform for developers in the Cloud that also allows the distribution of the final technology.

Cloud-related services

Related to the Cloud solutions are the related services. These services are possible actions thanks to the adoption of the Cloud and bring business and IT security advantages in favor of greater protection of corporate data.
Let's see some of them in detail:

  • Cloud Storage
The use of the Cloud for archiving, backup, sharing and synchronization of data in safety.
This allows you to access data saved in the history, thanks to Cloud Backup systems (our free software is an example, download it now).
  • Virtualization
The creation of a virtual entity in the Cloud for physical hardware, such as for servers. Virtualization in turn creates a series of business benefits, such as the transformation into a Smart Office (find out more about our service Smart Office).
Enable a virtual facility, with a virtualized desktop and the abandonment of all hardware, except one device to view the virtual desktop, for example tablet, smartphone, thin client, laptop.
  • Cloud Migration
The process of moving physical hardware and its data to the Cloud. This procedure must take place through specialized technicians.
In a quality service, migration to the Cloud environment is invisible to the customer's eyes. In this way, business continuity is maintained, i.e. no interruption of the company business.
